I've been a personal trainer for 14 years and feel very grateful that I get to help people with the knowledge that I've acquired over the years. As I've evolved I have come to view myself more as a teacher and motivator than a trainer. Of course I'll be putting you through workouts that will challenge you both physically and mentally but I'll also be explaining everything to you while you're doing it so you know exactly why and how it's benefiting you.
When I sit down with a new potential client I assess their fitness level and understanding of the science behind resistance training, steady state cardio vs. high intensity interval training, blood sugar and calorie manipulation, gut health, movement bio-mechanics, hydration, temperature maintenance, and various other aspect of proper health. This allows me to pick up where you've left off and keep you moving forward.
With every client it is my goal to empower them with as much information as possible in a three month period so they have the tools to do it all on their own if they choose to do so. That doesn't mean that I only work with clients for three months... most of my current clients have been with me for years... it just means I challenge myself to prepare them in that amount of time.
For the first meeting I like to put new potential clients through an easy workout to get a feeling for where they're at and also so they can get a feel for my style and energy. During that time we'll chat about goals, past injuries, current nutritional and exercise habits, and from there I'll have enough information to put together a preliminary plan that will evolve as our time progresses.
I work with clients outdoors in various parts of Portland, at their jobs, homes, and any other locations that we have access to. All you have to do is show up with a yoga mat and water and I'll have all the equipment set up and waiting for you.
If this sounds like something that you're looking for, don't hesitate to reach out to me via this site or my website to set up a free workout/consultation.
